From monarchies to republics, they’re uncovering how different nations are governed and presenting their findings in a visually engaging way! 💡📖🎨

SMS art students were introduced to the concept of Sgraffito, an Italian word meaning “to scratch.” This technique, commonly used in pottery, involves scratching through a surface layer to reveal an image beneath. In Mrs Young’s Technology class, Our 6th graders are taking creativity to the next level by using Google Slides to design their own Choose Your Own Adventure stories! Through this project, they’re blending technology and storytelling, making interactive choices that lead to different endings—all while applying the English skills they’ve been learning with Mrs Berry.
This is a perfect example of cross-category learning in action! Not only are students strengthening their writing, sequencing, and problem-solving skills, but they’re also exploring digital design and interactive storytelling techniques.
